During his participation in the 72nd Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations, President Jovenel Moise surprised everyone by defending the cause of Taiwan against the future of Haiti. An attitude which very clearly means the rejection of the project of reconstruction of Port-au-Prince by Communist China which should start at the end of this year.

The Haitian President has simply chosen to spit on a gigantic project containing large-scale works such as the construction of a 600 megawatt power plant to elect Port-au-Prince and the whole country, The building of public markets, the construction of several thousand apartments at the bottom of the city, the construction of a railway linking Port-au-Prince and the rest of Haiti, the mobilization of Five Billion Dollars US and 20,000 jobs.

This intervention by President Jovenel Moise follows the media leaks in the middle of September by IDB's resident representative in Haiti, Koldo Echebarria, where he said, without equivocation, that any new commercial loan granted to Haiti by Chinese firms would entail a renegotiation of the agreements between the country and its institutional financial partners. By accepting nonconcessional loans from China, it is clear that the Haitian state is violating its commitments to the international community. After the earthquake of January 12, 2010, Haiti had officially accepted, before the international community, to refuse any loan whose elementary "funds" does not taken include at least 35 % (of IMF funds) into the account. For example, in the case of the expansion of the Toussaint Louverture international airport, by a Chinese firm, Haiti had not respected this situation. Because of this, the works were abandoned in November 2016.

According to our sources, IDB President Luis Alberto Moreno went further in his meeting in New York with President Jovenel Moïse, on the sidelines of his participation in the 72nd General Assembly of the United Nations, ordered the Haitian President to block the reconstruction project in Port-au-Prince, the starting point for the reconstruction of Haiti for a total amount of 30 billion US dollars.

In his speech at the United Nations on 21 September 2017, Jovenel Moses assassinated the hope of the Haitian youth and the Diaspora, but unwittingly opened the way for the real mobilization to enable the Haitian people to appropriate this vast project.

Jovenel Moïse is in line with past leaders who have used diplomatic relations with Taiwan to benefit from the CASH diplomacy set up by Taipei to maintain his friendships without any concern for the development of the country.
